PERNEM: The commuters and passengers moving in and out of the newly opened up Pernem KTC bus stand are complaining that the staff, appointed to operate the pay toilet facility, is overcharging.
As per the charges mentioned by the KTC on their rate card, the charges for urinal facility is Rs 2, for toilet Rs 5 and for bathing is Rs 15. However, instead of charging Rs 2 for urinal facility, the staff is charging Rs 5.
“The staff appointed to operate the pay toilet is charging Rs 5 instead of Rs 2 for urinal. And when we asked about it he said urinal or toilet, Rs 5 is must,” one of the college students Dipa Parab said.
“Not everyone can afford to pay Rs 5. I work in Pernem and since there is no toilet facility in our office building I use pay toilet facility at KTC bus stand. Sometimes I use once a day but most of the time it’s twice a day. However, both the times, the staff charges me Rs 5 for urinal facility. When it is actually Rs 2,” A Naik said.
When Herald correspondent inquired about it, it was found that the staff appointed at the pay toilet charges Rs 5 for everyone. After questioning the staff, he mentioned that he was told to charge Rs 5 for urinal facility.
However, the rate card mentioned on the board by the KTC is Rs 2 for urinal facility. However, it was illegible, as it was scratched.
When contacted the concern incharge Chandrakishor Jha denied that the staff was overcharging at the pay toilet facility.
