Poor condition of road puts commuters at risk

SANGUEM: Citizens travelling to Sanguem from Orcotto, Molcornem, Dabamoll, Chinchant, Undorna and other neighboring areas have complained of the poor condition of the road from Orcotto to Dando which was dug for laying water pipeline but not restored after the work operations. The work was reportedly carried out in the month of May and June. However, after having completed the work of laying water pipeline, the department failed in getting the road repaired thereby putting the road users to serious risk of meeting with accidents.
The situation is all the more worse and rendered precarious at sharp turns where the motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders, face the risk of running into vehicles coming in opposite direction in a bid to avoid the damaged roads. Moreover, with the onset of monsoon season, the damaged portion of the road has sunk all the more and this has led to more chances of motorists meeting accidents.
The rubbles, which have surfaced all over the 3-km stretch of the road, have added to the woes faced by the two wheeler riders. Josinho Dcosta who has been using the road on a daily basis blamed the PWD officials for not repairing the road after laying the water pipeline. “There was sufficient time for the department to repair the road before monsoon but the authorities simply ignored it getting the work done as the road lies in the interior of Sanguem town,” said Josinho.
Another citizen Apolinario Gomes echoed similar woes and urged the department for immediate repair of the road before the situation turns worser.
