Our previous streetlights were very good and also the Electricity Department staff, who was replacing the faulty fixtures immediately once they were informed.
Our old fixtures, such as tube lights, CLF bulbs, bulbs are of the past now and are replaced with LED lights. When our old lights were there, there was no mush problem, if existed, within a day they were repaired or replaced.
A year back LED lights were installed in Goa. At some places mostly, I have seen, the day the LED were installed, within two to eight days they are non-functional and some areas are still in darkness. Till today, some electrical poles are without streetlights and some internal roads where people are staying are in dark for last one year.
If somebody informs the local Electrical Department, they say they are not authorised to replace or repair the LED lights and if one telephones to the concerned authorities, who look after the wear and tear of the LED lights, they say they don’t have the stock to conduct the repair work or some time don’t give an appropriate answer.
My humble request to the Government is to replace or repair these LED lights immediately so that the locals don’t have a problem in travelling during the night.
