The much awaited work on the fields in Marna – Siolim is yet to be done. How much long should the farmers of these fields have to wait for the Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Resources departments to take up the works to restore these fields to cultivation?
Last year the WRD started the work but now it does not seem any of the officials from the Department will take up the pending works. As the code of conduct comes into force, will these farmers not have to wait impatiently? Will the Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardessai take some keen interest in Siolim to keep its GFP flag flying high? If nothing is done, this site maybe turned into a bird sanctuary for which the Siolim Biodiversity will have to intervene to take this issue to its logical conclusion.
