MARGAO: Residents of Davorlim and Rawanfond have expressed anguish over the deteriorating condition of the road from Rawanfond Power House junction to Rawanfond, which has been partly washed off.
Residents have often complained about the danger the road posed to people who frequently use the road and have warned of resorting to rasta roko, if the road is not repaired soon and speed-breakers not put at the junction.
Besides, the Davorlim village road opens up on to the junction and has become immensely dangerous for motorists.
People pointed out that there was an accident almost every day at this junction and many major accidents too have been reported here.
The demands for rumble strips or speed breakers on the road from Ravanfond have fallen on deaf ears and locals said all the concerned departments were passing the buck for a speed-breaker on the junction. Now, to make matter worse, the road has been washed away and huge pot holes can be seen everywhere.
A Davorlim local Anand Sawant said they have been asking for a speed-breaker on the junction for a long time now.
We were told that the District Collector has been sitting over our demand of rumble strips and speed breakers, he said, asking if the authorities were waiting for a major disaster to happen.
The locals have been demanding a proper planning of the Junction circle for nearly a decade now and have voiced their displeasure since 2007.
Locals also warned that in the event of an accident, if someone from their villager was harmed due to the mess at the junction they would take to the streets and even barge into the offices of the concerned officers.
Another resident, Vikas Naik pointed out that the road on the Ravanfond bridge had developed pot holes and there were accidents everyday.
