This is in reference to my complaint that appeared in Citizen Herald, “Stop heavy Vehicles.” The next day after publication of my letter, we noticed that no trucks drove past in the morning, but around 11 am we saw trucks moving again, however with a difference, as most carried a paper pasted on the windshield which read ‘On Government Duty.’ this letter, the posters and papers on the windscreen have disappeared.
Whom are these contractors fooling? When the trucks started using this private road they moved casually and now with these posters (as seen in the picture). The one before the complaint was sent to Herald did not anything like that.
What’s more, as I pen this letter, the posters and papers on the windscreen have disappeared.
We stopped the trucks and reminded the contractors that if they use the trucks ‘On Government Duty,’ to use the government-constructed highways and not private road as short cuts, as these were constructed by the Navelkars for their residents, much before the Kadamba highway existed.
We also make a strong appeal to the RTO to restrict the movements of these trucks, which drive recklessly, creating noise and dust pollution, throughout the day until late night.
The failure will force the residents to block the entrance of the road and halt the trucks. Hope better sense prevails.
