While passing by the side of the first junction one early morning close to the main Panjim bus stand, near the office of Goa Dalgado Konkani Academy close to the garden of Bharatratna Statue of Dr B R Ambedkar situated near the newly constructed multipurpose parking lot building, it was observed that there is a wide and large unused triangular-shaped vacant cemented land having round cut corners on its three sides. There is also a kidney-shaped similar vacant cemented space just opposite the garden near the Paulo Travels office few metres away. This space is also deserted for quite a long time without making any use of it. We fail to understand the reason why it is left unused.
Further to this there is also another smaller than this space near the State Bank of India, between the five roads. There may be many such unused spaces elsewhere in the State for which authorities are requested to take note, check and take immediate and necessary action to either beautify them or convert them into small gardens. Care is to be taken to maintain them regularly with proper watering.
Some small differently shaped gardens do exist in the cities and villages as well.
The concerned authorities should either reduce the size of these unused spaces, which in turn, would help avoid heavy traffic jams. Reducing the size of these unused spaces will help in the smooth vehicular movement in cities and villages and converting them into gardens will give added beauty to the place.
The government can approach some corporates to sponsor the beautification as it was done in Vasco.
