CM Dr Pramod Sawant, 8 BJP ministers sworn-in to form the new Goa government

Panjim: BJP MLA Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Goa in a ceremony near here that was participated by thousands of people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, BJP National President J P Nadda, Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Maharashtra’s former chief minister Devendra Fadanavis were amongst the dignitaries who participated in the event that was held at Dr Shamaprasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim.

Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai gave the oath of secrecy to Sawant and his eight ministers in the cabinet including Vishwajit Rane, Mauvin Godinho, Ravi Naik, Nilesh Cabral, Subhash Shirodkar, Rohan Khaunte, Govind Gaude and Atanasio Monserratte.

Rane, Godinho, Cabral and Gaude were part of Sawant-led cabinet between 2019-22 while Khaunte was minister in Manohar Parrikar-led government. Naik, Shirodkar and Monserratte will be sworn-in for the first time in BJP-led cabinet.

Sawant took oath in Konkani language. This is the second tenure of Sawant as the chief minister of the state. Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai administered Oath to Minister Vishwajit Rane. Takes Oath in English. Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho took Oath in English, while former CM and Ponda MLA Ravi Naik took Oath as Minister in Sawant led cabinet. He takes Oath in Hindi. Minister Nilesh Cabral took Oath in English. Shiroda MLA Subhash Shirodkar took his Oath as Minister in Hindi, while Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte sworn in as Minister and he took Oath in Konkani, while  Priol MLA Govind Gaude took his Oath in Konkani as Minister

Sawant was elected as the head of BJP legislature wing after the party won on 20 seats during the recently held Goa Legislative Assembly elections this time.
