CM: Govt to recruit food inspectors

PANJIM: In the backdrop of incident of food poisoning wherein around 80 students were taken ill in Canacona, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday said that the government has decided to recruit food inspectors to check the mid day meal before it is served to school students.

PANJIM: In the backdrop of incident of food poisoning wherein around 80 students were taken ill in Canacona, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday said that the government has decided to recruit food inspectors to check the mid day meal before it is served to school students.
“We will recruit 10 to 15 food inspectors who will inspect the mid day meal which is served to students,” Parrikar told reporters. 
He said that the inspectors would be recruited through state education department.
“It is not possible for the Food and Drugs Administration to collect the samples and transport the same to its laboratory in Panjim, every time such incidents happen. Hence we decided to have a special team to inspect the meals,” he stated. 
Chief Minister also said that the process is on to empanel new self-help groups to supply mid day meal to the school students.
