CM holds review meet ahead of 16th Finance Commission’s arrival

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive finance review meeting with Secretaries and Heads of Departments (HoDs) in preparation for the upcoming visit of the 16th Finance Commission to the State.

Sawant informed that the meeting focused on assessing the financial progress of key departments, reviewing revenue generation, departmental expenditure, and the status of ongoing infrastructure projects across the State

He also mentioned that detailed deliberations were held on proposals and key demands to be presented to the 16th Finance Commission, ensuring alignment with the State’s development priorities and financial needs.

According to the Chief Minister, the review meeting was aimed to consolidate Goa’s position and secure adequate support for its infrastructural and economic growth, emphasizing strategic planning and efficient resource allocation.

A five-member 16th Finance Commission headed by Chairman Arvind Panagariya is likely to visit the State from January 9 to 10, 2025.
