PANJIM: Following reports in the Herald on November 4 and 5, about the misadventures of Power Minister Milind Naik, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has assured this paper to look into the matter seriously.
On November 4, Herald reported how the Power Minister was, for months, holding on to a file for appointment of five Executive Engineers even though the Chief Minister had instructed to issue appointment orders.
A day later, Herald reported 23 files for commercial electrical connections to corporates were being held back without any valid reasons for years.
When asked to comment on the holding of file for the recruitment, the Chief Minister told Herald, “Your reports have simplified my job and now I will look into it.”
Asked whether the power minister’s actions amounted to basic indiscipline, since he (the CM) issued directions for appointments, Parsekar said, “I will not speak much but yes I will get the work done.”
Herald also pointed out to the Chief Minister that the government ambitious aim attract industries to Goa, would get nullified if the power department was not clearing files of corporates for electrical connections, he replied, “I agree there have been some issues. But seriously nobody has approached me as yet.”
“If this is happening it is bad and I will look into it that these things do not happen, we (the Investment Promotion Board) has cleared projects worth Rs 4215 cr and we want more industries to come hence any such issues will be sorted out at the earliest,” he said.
