PANJIM: The Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured Goa government a foolproof security to the wall in the interconnecting Kalsa-bandhuri canal through their district administration.
“The State officials have informed that the precautionary steps have already been taken by the district administration in providing full security to the wall in the interconnecting canal constructed pursuant to the order issued by the Mhadei water dispute tribunal (MWDT),” Siddaramaiah said in his letter to Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
He said the instructions are issued to the officials of district administration to provide foolproof security to the wall in the interconnecting canal.
The communication is in reply to Parsekar’s request that Karnataka government should avoid any forcible violations to disrupt status quo on the Kalasa-bandhuri project, issued by the Mhadei water dispute tribunal.
In a letter to Siddaramaiah, last month, Parsekar had pointed out that some group of activists with probable support of political forces have envisaged to break upon the blocks or seals ordered by the Tribunal in June 2014.
Chief Minister said Goa and the Government of Karnataka are law abiding and that the government machinery will do its utmost to uphold due process of law and prevent any untoward incident from happening.
