PANJIM: In another attempt to boost higher education in the State and considering an impressive HSSC results this year, Goa government has proposed to commence four evening colleges from the coming academic year.
Speaking at a function in Panjim, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the move will also ease the burden of admissions owing to an increasing number of students passing out every year.
“There are instances when a student is unable to attend morning classes. Moreover, every year we see an increasing number of Class XII students passing out. This year the results were impressive and the rush for admissions will certainly be an issue. Starting evening colleges may also solve the admission problems,” he said.
The government, however, does not intend to set up new infrastructure as four existing colleges will be selected to extend their classes in the evening.
