CM Sawant Visits Mapusa Dacoity Site, Says Police Close to Nabbing Culprits

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday visited the residence in Ganeshpuri, Mapusa, where a shocking dacoity took place late Sunday night, and met with the victim’s family.

Speaking to the media after the visit, CM Sawant said police were “on the right track” and expressed confidence that the culprits would soon be apprehended. He revealed that strict instructions have been issued to the police to intensify nakabandis (checkpoints) and that additional personnel will be deployed on night patrols to enhance security.

“The dacoity appears to have been carried out by professionals. The government’s top priority is to crack down on such crimes and ensure citizens’ safety,” the Chief Minister said.

The investigation into the incident, in which robbers looted cash and jewellery worth around ₹50 lakh and fled in the family’s car, is ongoing.
