PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has slammed the striking contract workers of the Goa Employment and Recruitment Union for politicizing the job issue despite repeated assurances by his government to recruit them under Goa Human Resource Development Corporation in a phased manner.
“It is sheer indiscipline… what they are doing is madness. They are politicizing the issue although we have assured them that not a single person will be left on the road,” he told the media reacting to the strike of 100-odd workers under the Goa Recruitment and Employment Employees Union at Azad Maidan.
A visibly upset chief minister commented that it was embarrassing that while government was inviting foreign investments to Goa during a summit on Friday, the contract workers on the other end were on strike.
“There are recruitment rules even for the posts of security guards such as requirements of height etc. Those who fail this test will be accommodated in the house keeping section. We have assured to adjust (employ) everyone phase-wise,” he added alleging they are being instigated by vested elements to act against the government.
