“I will ask the Director General of Police to investigate the source of such huge cash. There has to be a thorough investigation into all seizures,” he said on Friday.
Goa Police and Crime Branch sleuths conducted four raids at Valpoi, Ponda, Porvorim and Calangute unearthing a total Rs 1.23 crore in new denomination notes of Rs 2,000.
In the latest case, Rs 24 lakh in new Rs 2,000 denomination notes was allegedly stolen by four men at Saligao. The case led to the suspension of police constable Vikas Naik and a police sub inspector is also on the radar. The duo was found near the crime site although the case did not fall within their jurisdictions. “It is a serious matter,” Parsekar said referring to the incident.
