PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday said that though the State is reeling under a financial crisis, it will not shy away from implementing the 7th Pay Commission if the recommendations are accepted by the Central government.
“It’s a challenge, but our government has never denied anything to the people of Goa; and if the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission are accepted by the Central government, we will implement it in Goa too. We will not deny our employees their right,” Parsekar said.
Asked whether the government has the financial capacity to hike salaries at this juncture, he said, “Despite these crises we are implementing so many schemes. In 54 years of freedom, our party is in power for just eight years. But all the schemes were introduced by our government, be it DSS, Griha Aadhar, Ladli Laxmi, support price to farmers etc. You name any scheme today, it was started by us.”
Asked whether he would seek for assistance form Centre for implementing the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, he replied, “Let it be implemented at the Centre first, then we will do our calculations and reach a figure only then we will decide on whether to seek Centre’s help or not.”
