Residents of Collem have complained of acute water shortage for the last four days.
According to sources, the main pipeline at Collem market has burst since the last four days and the concerned department is yet to repair the pipeline. It was also learnt that the pump installed at Signal Khond has burnt.
It is learnt that PWD (water section) had set up two water projects at Dudhsagar River near Signal Kond and Metawada-Collem. The water at Signal Khond was pumped out and stored in a tank at Bazarpeth-Collem and was later supplied to Bazarpeth, Vikaswada, Pimpalmal, Tambdimal, Bharipwada and other parts of Collem.
It may be recalled that residents of Collem have been facing acute water shortage of nearly 50,000 litres per day and PWD has to provide water through water tankers.
