Census enumerators had to face the ire of a household owner in the city here on Thursday morning when a male member roughed up the officials while carrying out the census duties.
The incident occurred Thursday morning at Colmorod when the two enumerators visited a household when the male member came charging towards them and asked them to leave the premises.
Enumerator Ashok Prabhu informed that the male member even snatched the enumeration papers and put cancellation marks on the papers.
Prabhu immediately intimated the incident to the Deputy Collector Johnson Fernandes and later lodged a complaint with the Margao police. Prabhu told the police that the male member sought to know how they could seek details without informing him.
Incidentally, the enumerators find themselves in a tight spot as many have been pulled up by the census officials for the delays and have to sometimes face hot tempered people on the field.
This is not the first time that census enumerators had to face anxious moments while undertaking the month and half long exercise.
Last month, an enumerator employed with the Power department made his presence felt before the Deputy Collector stating that he was roughed up by a household owner after he visited the house to seek details pertaining to the census work.
