Colva Teen, Woman Assaulted; Threatened Into Silence; Activist Alleges Police Delay in Registering Complaint

An 18‑year‑old boy, Clavin Fernandes, was allegedly assaulted by a group of four to five people in Colva and threatened not to lodge a police complaint, according to local activist Fidoll Pereira.

The accused, who are adults, also attacked the victim’s mother, made casteist remarks, and damaged his bike, turning the incident into a case of caste‑based atrocity, activists allege.

Despite Clavin filing a complaint with Colva police, a formal case had not been registered, despite a medical examination indicating signs of assault.

Fidoll stated that the matter has been forwarded to the Women’s Commission, the DGP, and the SP. The police inspector has now assured that a case will be registered; she demands the immediate arrest of all accused involved.
