A major fire broke out in a residential flat at Gaur Green Avenue society in the Abhay Khand area of Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, on Wednesday morning, sending thick smoke billowing from the upper floors and triggering panic among residents.
The blaze, reported around 8:30 am, spread across multiple flats between the ninth and eleventh floors, with at least five to six units sustaining damage, officials said. Fire tenders, including over 17 vehicles and hydraulic equipment, rushed to the spot, and the fire was eventually brought under control with no reported casualties.
All trapped residents were safely evacuated, though some flats were locked while others were occupied. Ghaziabad Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal said the exact cause is still under probe, with preliminary inputs suggesting the fire originated on the ninth floor.
Firefighters also faced brief delays due to low water pressure, allegedly caused by a boundary wall near a park restricting access.
