Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat has agreed to constitute a committee to study the issue of payment of salaries for the employees employed with the South Goa Administrator of Communidades, who have been running from pillar to post to get their salaries for the last four months.
Finance Secretary, Revenue secretary and the Administrator of Communidades, South will be the members of the Committee which will not only study the payment of salaries to the 25-odd employees, but will study the aspect of absorbing the employees as in government service.
This was decided at a meeting the Administrator of Communidades, P Barad had with Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat and Revenue Minister, Jose Philip D’Souza on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister is believed to have initially maintained that the employees working in the Administrator of Communidades are not government servants. He, however, later agreed to constitute the high-level Committee to study the issue relating to the employees threadbare before a final decision is taken by the government.
The Revenue Minister Jose Philip, sources in the know said, is in favour of absorbing the employees as government servants, but is awaiting the Chief Minister for a final decision.
These Communidade employees have been without their salaries since the last four months and have served a notice on the Administrator to go on a pen down strike after the expiry of 21 day period.
The government had in the past sanctioned a one-time grant to the Communidade Administrator to clear the salaries of the employees early this year. Around Rs 45 lakh grant was sanctioned by the government, with the condition that the Administrator of Communidades repays the amount.
