The State government on Tuesday announced that the deputy collectors, mamlatdars and the communidade administrator will be held responsible for any new illegal encroachment comes up on the communidade land of their jurisdiction.
“The deputy collectors, mamlatdars and communidade administrator will have to file an affidavit every month that no illegal encroachment has come up on the communidade land in their jurisdiction,” Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said in the Assembly on Tuesday.
He said that despite this if any encroachments come up then the deputy collectors, mamlatdars and communidade administrators would be held responsible and will face action.
Kamat was replying to the statement made by the Cortalim MLA and the Dy Speaker that the government should legalise all encroachments so that the communidades earn some money.
The Speaker Pratapsing Rane intervened and said that should the encroachments be legalised only for vote bank purpose?
To which the chief minister said that the government has already taken a decision to legalise all encroachments upto 2000.
Earlier, in his reply Revenue Minister Jose Philipe D’Souza stated that no encroachment on communidade land will be allowed by the government.
“To curb corruption in the department instructions are issued to the collector not to issue any NOCs to the change of name in Form 1 and 14 of the communidade land until the permission of government is sought,” he said.
The minister further stated that as and when cases of irregularities in the communidade are brought to the notice, his department has taken stern action.
“We have even sealed the offices and filed FIR whenever such irregularities are brought to our notice,” he said.
