VASCO: The row over Narkasur effigy competition at Sada, Vasco, has escalated with ‘Mormugao United’ filing a complaint before the chief secretary demanding action against South Goa Collector. The association has alleged that there has been misuse of power to stop their Narkasur competition at Sada.
The association has alleged that the decision to deny permission for its competition was taken under political pressure.
Mormugao municipal Councillor Nilesh Navelkar warned that misuse of power would lead to law and order issues in the areas. Navelkar is a member of the Association.
The association said that it had applied for permission well in advance on October 24. However, it said, the statement communicating denial of permission was sent via fax late.
