SANGUEM: The roads in Sanguem are in totally deplorable state and need immediate repairs.
Incidentally, even after several requests, the authorities have continued to turn a Nelson’s eye to the bad condition of the roads in the villages, claim villagers.
The road between Sanguem and Curchorem is in immaculate condition except for the washed out portion at the Shivaji circle at Curchorem. But the interior roads to villages from Sanguem town are in sorry state and need immediate repair work.
Even the road to Sanguem Industrial Estate which is widely used by multinational companies to transport their material and finished products is also in dire state.
The portion of the road leading to the Sanguem Industrial Estate at Xelpem and at Cotarli is full of potholes making the vehicle riders face extreme hardships.
Huge craters have developed at Xelpem and Cotarli. The villagers residing in the two villages, particularly two-wheeler riders, are facing extreme hardship. The hardship is still worse at night.
The situation on the road leading to Costi village is no different, either. While road below the railway over bridge at Kalay is rendered almost unmotorable, the numerous potholes which have developed near Marques Farm at Costi give nightmares for the villagers. “The scenario is made all the more dangerous during the night in the absence of street lights,” villager Amar Naik said.
Similar is the position of the road leading to Molcornem from Sanguem. Huge potholes have developed at various places at Chinchant, Sanguem.
The villagers have demanded immediate repair of the dilapidated roads in Sanguem before any unforeseen incident takes place.
