PANJIM: NGO-GenNext on Friday highlighted the pathetic conditions prevailing at the Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Addressing the media, GenNext President Durgadas Kamat said the NGO’s helpline has been receiving a series of calls about the horrifying conditions at the hospital. “GMC itself requires life support,” he said following a visit to the state-run hospital.
He said the hospital lacks bed facilities and has limited arrangements in the ICU, the patients are made to sleep on the floor, while critical patients are kept waiting in general wards. “In the ICU the ventilators are non-functional. Also the doctors and staffers at the hospital are least bothered about the patients,” Kamat said.
The NGO has urged the Chief Minister to conduct a surprise visit to the GMC and take a stock of the situation.
