MAPUSA: The current diversion of traffic due to the closure of the one-way road at the Guirim Junction near the Green Park Hotel, here, has resulted in major traffic jams in the area.
Initially, there were two ways for entry and exit of the road from Mapusa to Porvorim and vice versa. However, now, as the road leading to Panjim at the Green Park junction is closed due to the ongoing highway work, the traffic is being diverted on a single-lane road.
Given that it’s the peak tourist season and is a route frequented by the local commuters too in large numbers, there are problems aplenty for the traffic police. On Friday, traffic was moving at snail pace inconveniencing the public at large.
