The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has reiterated its commitment to forging a united opposition front against the BJP ahead of upcoming elections, with party president Girish Chodankar announcing that the Congress will initiate alliance discussions with like-minded political parties.
Speaking after a meeting of the Congress Political Affairs Committee, Chodankar said the issue of forming an opposition alliance was deliberated in detail and received unanimous support from all committee members.

He stated that there was a consensus that all political parties and individuals committed to defeating the BJP should come together and contest elections unitedly.
“As the big brother, the Congress Party will take the initiative to begin alliance talks with other parties,” Chodankar said, adding that the objective is to build a broad-based opposition platform capable of taking on the ruling BJP.
The GPCC chief also extended an open invitation to former Congress leaders and workers who had left the party over the years to return and strengthen the organisation.
“We appeal to all those who left the Congress Party for various reasons to come back. Anyone wishing to rejoin the party is welcome to do so unconditionally,” Chodankar said.
The remarks signal the Congress leadership’s renewed focus on opposition unity and organisational strengthening as the party prepares its political strategy for the state.
