PANJIM: Congress on Saturday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appoint Manohar Parrikar as Governor of some smaller State rather than him continuing as Chief Minister of Goa, as history proves that he has been a failure.
“Parrikar’s tenure as Chief Minister has been a failure. Right from his first term in 2000 till the last one in 2012 to November 2014, Parrikar never managed to complete his tenure. His failure is known from the fact that he never managed to give a stable government,” All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Girish Chodankar told media persons.
“We therefore demand that the Prime Minister appoint Parrikar as Governor of some small State rather than being Chief Minister of Goa,” he demanded.
Chodankar said that ‘not just as Chief Minister but Parrikar has been inefficient as Defence Minister’. Congress charged Parrikar of using regional parties like Goa Forward and Independent MLAs to fulfill his selfish motive of become the State Chief Minister, against the people’s mandate.
