Sonak’s friends for foundation to take forward his work

PANJIM: As a tribute to the late Advocate Satish Sonak, his friends have proposed to establish a foundation that will carry forward his work for the downtrodden sections of society.

Environment activist Claude Alvares and former Director General of Police Dr Aditya Arya, proposed a foundation in Sonak’s name as he left a versatile contribution in various sectors of Goan society. 
The meeting was called friends of Sonak to put the light over a life of Satish and was moderated by Judge Desmond D’Costa, who was Sonak’s friend since their days as student activists. 
Activists, environmentalists and lawyers including Aires Rodrigues, Cleofato Coutinho, Prasad Shahapurkar, Judge Pramod Kamat, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai, Panjim MLA Siddharth Kunkolienkar, Valmiki Naik, Prof Nandkumar Kamat, Prajal Sakhardande, Daulat Hawaldar, Subhash Velingkar, Subodh Kerkar, Claude Alvares, Ramesh Gawas, Aditya Arya, former MLA Victoria Fernandes and others, including many journalists, were present for the meeting.
His friends highlighted Sonak’s works towards the downtrodden and his contribution in the social sector through his activism since his student’s days.    
Sonak passed away last week after a massive cardiac arrest at a Panjim court.  As a student leader in the early 1980s he contributed to the student movement.
