DABOLIM/Sanguem: Minister for Forest and Environment Alina Saldanha distributed e-tablets and sports equipments to eight schools in Cortalim constituency, while Law Commission Chairman Adv Narendra Savaikar distributed e-tablets to students from six schools in Quepem taluka at a function at Quepem Municipal Square.
Saldanha distributed 733 e-tablets and sports equipments at a programme organised at St Thomas High School, Cansaulim. The schools are Our Lady of Perpetual Succour HS (Cortalim), Vidhya Vihar HS (Cortalim), Government Middle School (Curpavaddo), Shantadurga HS (Sancoale), Government HS (Birla-Zuarinagar), Shree Yallalingeshwer Shardha Mandir School (Zari-Zuarinagar), St Thomas HS (Cansaulim) and Infant Jesus Academy (Velsao).
The e-tablets with accessories were distributed in the presence of St Thomas School Cansaulim Principal Fr Sertorio Rodrigues, St Thomas School Headmistress Antonetta Noronha and heads of other schools and distributor Jitendra Kenkre. Saldanha, in her brief address, recalled that in her student days she went to school with a pencil, eraser and ruler in a compass box, but today the State government is giving students an educational aid of an e-tablet to enhance the educational level in the State and requested the students to put the gadget to optimum use.
In Quepem, the students who benefited under the scheme included students from Don Bosco (Sulcorna), Utkarsh HS (Rivona), Government HS (Molcornem), Pope John HS (Quepem), Mary Immaculate HS (Paroda) and Government HS (Maina). Speaking on the occasion, Law Commission Chairman Adv Narendra Savaikar informed the parents to take benefits of the e-tablets and learn from their children to use it and also guide the students in using the e-tablets.
On his advice to the school children, Savoikar said children should learn more than what their teachers teaches them in the school and that is the main reason why the government has given e tablets, computers and laptops. He advised the students not to misuse the e-tabs by playing games but use for educational purpose only.
Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldessai said Goa is the only state around the world to provide e-tabs, computers and laptops for school children and the credit goes to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who has taken the initiative to start the scheme.
