The South Goa Sessions Court on Tuesday rejected the application moved by Annaso Maruti Varekar for the release of the Tempo Trax vehicle in connection with the Margao bomb blast case.
Sessions Judge Utkarsh V Bakre rejected the application on grounds that investigations in the bomb blast case are still continuing. This is the second time that the Sessions court has rejected the application for the release of the vehicle. The matter was later adjourned to February 21.
Special Public Prosecutor S B Faria said the National Investigation Agency had strongly opposed the release of the Trax vehicle on grounds that investigations into the bomb blast case are still continuing.
“The NIA had argued that the Trax vehicle, though in the name of Annaso Maruti Varekar, was being used by the accused before the test blast and prior to the bomb blast in Margao. The vehicle is required in custody for further investigations into the case”, Faria stated.
He said the court had earlier rejected the application for the release of the vehicle on grounds that investigations into the case are continuing.
Meanwhile, the sessions court is likely to pronounce its order in the framing of charge against the accused persons in the bomb blast case at the next date of hearing.
