PANJIM: Underscoring the success of Goa police, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Rajesh Kumar said the crime detection rate in Goa has gone up to 85 per cent which speaks volumes itself.
Speaking at the 58th Goa Police Raising Day, the DIG, who was the Chief Guest, said that Goa Police has seized 84 kgs of narcotics in 207 cases reported. To mark the day, the parade was organised by Goa Police, which demonstrated discipline and enthusiasm of the police. He also inspected the parade held at Police Headquarters, Panjim.
Pointing out that Goa is a tourist place and that the tourism industry is the main stay of the State, DIG Kumar said the conduct and behaviour of Goa Police force needs to always be tourists friendly.
He lauded the efforts of all police towards serving the people and maintaining law and order and peace in Goa. He added that crime detection rate of 85% underscores their hard work, dedication and professionalism.
Kumar also elaborated about various measures and initiatives that had been undertaken by the police dept against human trafficking, drugs peddling and other crimes.
The DIG further felicitated police personnel with DGP’s Insignia for their excellence services and awarded trophies for best Police Stations. Vasco Police Station received the first prize, Collem got the second prize and Calangute got the third prize.
DYSP Kiran Poduval was the Parade Commander and Police Inspector (PI) Narayan Chimulkar was second in command.
Among the PIs, Chetan L. Patil, Tushar Vernekar, Narayan Chimulkar, Krishna Sinari, Prajyot S. Fadte, Tushar Lotlikar, Sudhir Redkar, Pradeep Velip, Sachin Lokre, Sherif Jaques were recipients of the DGP`s Insignia. Also Police Sub Inspectors, Vijaynath Kavlekar, Dinesh Gadekar, Pedro Fernandes were felicitated with the DGP`s Insignia.
Assistant Sub Inspector Pradeep Kubal, Head Constables Damodar Mestri, Tukaram Shet Mandrekar, Bashir Mulla, Umesh Pawaskar, Sushant Sawant, Police Constable Mahadev Hatle, Sulesh Mapari, Mahesh Arondekar, Pramod Desai, Devesh Kuttikar also received the DGP`s Insignia.
