PERNEM, AUG 20 Illegal constructions have been mushrooming in Mandrem, Morjim, Arambol and surrounding coastal belt in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone rules.

Illegal constructions have been mushrooming in Mandrem, Morjim, Arambol and surrounding coastal belt in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone rules.
The locals have alleged that government officials and panchayats have turned a blind eye to the illegal constructions.
Locals have also alleged that some non-Goan businessmen with the help of local residents are carrying out these illegal structures.
They have further alleged that recently over five commercial structures were constructed within a distance of 60-80 mtrs from the high tide line, thereby defying CRZ rules and regulation.
According to some people, the seasonal business are carried out by natives of Rajasthan, Kashmir, Nepal and Russia, allegedly with the support of local landlords.
The residents have urged the government to take stern action against those involved in such constructions.
