MARGAO: The Cuncolim Block Congress Committee members have said that they have faith in the Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias that he would never join the BJP.
However, the committee said that it did not like the move of Dias seeking the views of his supporters on joining the BJP.
Last week, Dias had held a meeting of his workers and people from Cuncolim seeking their opinion on joining the BJP. Cuncolim Block Congress President Landry Mascarenhas has said that he did not like it.
Block Congress Vice President Deepak Kharangate said, “MLAs don’t need to ask anyone nowadays. Our MLA asked with a feeling that he shouldn’t deprive his people.”
“Government starts issues to hide some other issues. BJP uses the tactic. Our MLA will not join the BJP. He will get re-elected,” Kharangate said.
Cuncolim Congress member Georgina Gama said that the party workers are confident that Dias would not join the BJP.
Discouraging any move by the Congress MLAs to join the BJP, party’s State President Vinay Tendulkar on Tuesday said that there are no vacancies in the party.
