Residents of Cacora in Curchorem intercepted several ten-wheeler trucks transporting soil through internal village roads after repeated spillages allegedly caused a series of accidents involving local commuters.
The agitated residents stopped the trucks and questioned the drivers, alleging that the transportation of soil was being carried out without the necessary permissions. They also expressed concern over the increasing safety risks posed by the movement of heavy vehicles on narrow village roads.

According to locals, soil spilling from the trucks has made the roads slippery, contributing to multiple accidents and endangering motorists and pedestrians. Residents further claimed that the continuous movement of overloaded trucks has also damaged the condition of the internal roads.
In view of the recurring incidents and growing public safety concerns, the residents collectively resolved to prohibit the movement of ten-wheeler soil-laden trucks on the village roads from tomorrow onwards. They said the decision was taken to protect commuters and prevent further deterioration of the road infrastructure.
The residents have urged the concerned authorities to intervene, verify the permissions for the transportation activity, and take appropriate measures to ensure public safety.
