The Curti Khandepar Panchayat has lodged a formal com plaint against a former Multi Task Staff (MTS) member for allegedly is suing forged income, house tax, trade licence and birth certificates, using fake signatures of the Secretary and Sarpanch, resulting in significant rev enue loss. Police have detained the accused and begun an inquiry. “Investigation is underway,” confirmed Sarpanch Naved Tehsildar. Tehsildar said the accused, original ly from Khandepar, was employed five years ago to serve demand notices for house taxes. However, in September 2025 he was caught in his first forgery case, involving receipts of Rs 28,500 and later Rs 8,560, leading to his dis missal. Police cases were filed then, with suspicions he had printed dupli cate receipt books in the Panchayat’s name.
The latest case surfaced when a woman presented a house tax receipt dated May 22, 2025 for Rs 8,580 while applying for a life certificate under the GrihAdhar scheme. Staff discovered the receipt was fraudulent, bearing forged sig natures. Police were immediately alerted and took the accused into custody. The Sarpanch alleged the accused admitted to issuing forged receipts to at least eight locals, including three house tax receipts, three birth certif icates, NOCs and a trade licence. “His acts amount to forgery and cheating,” Tehsildar said, adding police are gath ering further evidence. Sources in the Panchayat and BDO stressed the need for transfers of even lower staff, such as peons, every three years across Talukas to prevent such malpractice. One forged birth certificate was found bearing the letterhead of Ban dora Panchayat but stamped with Curti Khandepar Panchayat’s seal. Tehsildar said this bogus certificate was used in an application for a Por tuguese passport, exposing the scale of the fraud.
