Congress workers from the Siolim constituency staged a symbolic protest against the poor condition of roads in parts of Anjuna and Vagator, highlighting large potholes filled with rainwater.
In a sarcastic demonstration near a petrol station in Anjuna, the protesters showered flower petals and placed leaves over a pothole, calling it a symbolic “tribute” to the government’s alleged failure to repair the damaged roads.
The protesters said the pothole-ridden roads pose a serious risk to local residents, schoolchildren, taxi operators and tourists. They also claimed that the poor road conditions were causing damage to vehicles.
The Congress workers demanded immediate repairs and sought accountability from the Public Works Department (PWD) and elected representatives for the deteriorating condition of the roads.
