PONDA: Ponda police recovered a decomposed body of a person aged around 30-42 years from a paddy field at Kavlem located opposite the sewerage plant construction site.
Ponda PI Suraj Harlarnkar and PSI Yashwanth Mandrekar conducted panchanama and sent the body to GMC for post mortem. Though police did not suspect it to be murder, they have not ruled out the possibility. Police are awaiting post mortem report.
DySP Nelson Albuquerque said that details about the case would be revealed only after post mortem.
Kavlem Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar said that the death is suspicious. He said that workers from the neighbouring mill informed about the body after stench started emanating. The internal organs were seen exposed; however, it could not be learnt whether they were exposed due to decomposition of the body or due to some other cause. Locals suspect the case as homicide and that the person might have been murdered elsewhere and dumped in the field at night.
