All eight franchises finalised their squads after the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 auction concluded in New Delhi on July 1. The tournament, organised by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), continues to grow in stature after two successful editions.
East Delhi Riders won the inaugural title before West Delhi Lions emerged champions with Nitish Rana leading the side following his return to Delhi cricket. Ahead of the new season, franchises built competitive squads under auction rules designed to distribute top players evenly across the league.

The biggest buy of the auction was M Tejaswi Dahiya, who was retained by South Delhi Superstarz through the Right to Match card for INR 40 lakh. East Delhi Riders assembled an impressive fast-bowling combination featuring Simarjeet Singh and Mayank Yadav, while North Delhi Strikers strengthened their squad by re-signing Sarthak Ranjan through RTM and adding Mayank Dagar.
Every franchise made significant additions to complement their retained core. Purani Dilli 6, Central Delhi Kings, Outer Delhi Warriors, New Delhi Tigers and defending champions West Delhi Lions all added quality across departments as they prepared for another highly competitive campaign.
India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was not part of the auction. InsideSport has reported exclusively that Pant is unlikely to participate in the 2026 edition because of his international commitments.
With the auction completed, the focus now turns to the upcoming season, where all eight franchises will battle for the DPL trophy. The tournament is expected to showcase some of Delhi’s best domestic talent while also featuring several established stars, making it one of the most anticipated state-based T20 competitions in the country.
