Sarpanch Satish Dhumal and four panchayat members have extended their support to the EDM, while four other panchayat members have voiced their opposition to hosting the event in their village.

Raised concerns, some locals fear the negative impact the EDM will have on the village, while the others feel that they will benefit from the event as it will generate revenue for them.

Sarpanch Satish Dhumal said, “The decision has been taken. Five persons are in favour, while four are opposed to hosting the event. We have given provisional permission to the organisers. Further decisions will be taken as per law. We have made the decision after taking legal advice.”

However, a local said that decisions taken by five panch members are not binding upon the villagers.

“Maybe five members of the panchayat have supported it, but we do not want Sunburn. We have the first right over the village. Panchayat is not the first and final authority,” he said.

Panch member Aniket Salgaonkar said, “We will continue to oppose Sunburn. The permission has been granted because there is pressure on the panchayat.”
