PANJIM: Cautioning the electorate ahead of the 2017 State elections not to fall for AAP’s promises, the Congress said that at this stage not even three out of every ten Delhi voters would vouch for the Arvind Kejriwal-led government.
Addressing media persons, Congress national spokesperson and Delhi Pradesh Committee President Ajay Maken appealed to the people to vote for AAP only if three of ten voters are satisfied with the Kejriwal govt in Delhi.
“Nineteen months since AAP took over in Delhi, people there are feeling cheated and disenchanted. I caution the people of Goa not to follow the footstep or commit the same mistake and later repent the way people in the national capital are now doing,” Maken said while releasing the report card on the Kejriwal government and a white paper of AAP’s white lies.
“My appeal to the electorate in Goa is not to be hoodwinked by the Kejriwal entice. My sincere request to the people here is that just give a random call to any ten people in Delhi or even ten friends of yours there. And even if three people are satisfied with AAP government then please go and vote for AAP in the 2017 Goa elections,” the former Union Minister said.
The Congress leader claimed that AAP’s motive is to divide Congress votes and help BJP. He pointed out that AAP, which managed a clean sweep in Delhi in 2015, has seen its voting percentage drop below average. “The 13 municipal areas which went for by-polls, of then 12 were won by AAP during the State election and one by BJP. But during the by-poll, AAP was reduced to five, BJP won 3 and Congress which had zero percentage of voters won five seats,” he stated.
Asked whether AAP is looked upon as BJP’s ‘B’ team, Maken said AAP, which is focusing on small States like Goa, has a motive to cut into Congress votes and support BJP.
