MARGAO: The sarpanch and deputy sarpanch of Dramapur-Sirlim village panchayat were on Tuesday voted out of office in a no-trust motion.
At a special meeting of the Panchayat, the motion against sarpanch Olasrico Rodrigues and his deputy Edcy Fernandes were carried by 4-0 votes. Both Olasrico and Edcy, who had tendered their resignations from office on Monday, were conspicuous by their absence at the meeting.
After the meeting, the opposition group told the media that they were not aligned to any group or political party. Domnick Noronha said the four- member group will field panch member Agostinho D’Costa for the post of sarpanch. “We will seek government help to carry out development works,” he said.
