CANACONA: Canacona police arrested the driver of a Nagaland registered container truck for allegedly assaulting a police personnel and driving under influence of alcohol on Sunday.
Canacona police said that on receipt of information that a driver of a container truck proceeding towards Canacona was driving his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner, the police tried to stop him.
As the driver of the truck didn’t stop, a police PCR van chased him and stopped him when he had reached Karmalghat.
After alighting from his vehicle, police said, that he slapped and assaulted a police personnel and damaged the wind screen of the police van.
Police added that the accused Pahal Singh, a resident of Uttarakhand, has been arrested under Sections 353, 279 of IPC and 185 of Motor Vehicle Act and 3 of PDPP Act for assaulting and obstructing a public servant while discharging his duty, driving his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and damaging public property.
