PANJIM: Former minister and Goa Forward Party MLA Vinod Palyekar in a “secrete” report submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has named politicians and police officials, having nexus with drug peddlers in Goa and demanded strict action.
Addressing media persons on Saturday, Palyekar said that a “secrete” report on the growing drug menace in the coastal State with blessings of politicians and police, has been submitted to Prime Minister, a week back.
“I cannot disclose the content of the report but I have names of politicians and police involved in drug nexus,” MLA said adding that he has sought Prime Minister’s intervention to conduct investigation and take necessary action against those shielding narcotic trade.
He charged that the local police inspectors and sub-inspectors from the coastal belt are hand-in-glove with the drug peddlers.
For last couple of days, Goa has witnessed series of drug seizures involving foreigners.
“State government need to act to weed out this fear. However, there does not seem to be required ground action,” he alleged.
Former minister said that he has submitted several letters to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Inspector General of Police, Superintendent of Police and also to police inspectors along the coastal belt, informing about various drug parties.
“However, there has been no swift action,” he lamented.
Palyekar said that if required, he is ready to submit more details to Chief Minister for action.
“It is the duty of Chief Minister to protect our future generation from such illegal activities,” he said.
