Dutch woman found dead in Calangute

PANJIM: A 64-year-old woman from Holland was found dead in mysterious circumstances in an apartment resort at Calangute on Thursday night.

Calangute Police have recovered the body and sent it for postmortem to Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim.
Calangute Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi said the body was in a decomposed state and the woman must have died two days earlier. He said the death came to light only after neighbouring tenants started receiving a foul smell.
“We have registered an unnatural death case under section 174 CrPC and conducted a thorough panchanama with the help of a scientific team of forensic experts,” Dalvi said.
He said that two mobile phones and the deceased’s passport with valid tourist visa have been recovered. Based on the passport the deceased has been identified as Nicolle Marthe Madeleine Gcnonccau, a Dutch National.
Foul play at this stage is not suspected as nothing in the room was touched, PI Dalvi said. He added that the postmortem report is crucial for further investigations.
