Ponda Municipality approves ODP

PONDA: Ponda Municipal Council in a special meeting held on Friday passed the Outline Development Plan (ODP) for Ponda City after recommendations,

 suggestions and objections were approved by the sub-committee constituted by South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA).The meeting was held in the presence of officials of SGPDA South Goa.
Earlier on December 7, the councillors and local MLA Lavoo Mamledar had requested the SGPDA to finalise the OPP after the Council had unanimously approved the suggestions.
“There were altogether 119 objections and suggestions by people as well as from people’s representatives which were taken into consideration for planning of development for Ponda,” said PMC Chairperson Radhika Naik. The major changes suggested included plots for Multilevel Parking Project near Zareshwar where there is provision for parking of around 200 bikes.
Radhika Naik said the old Shastri Hall Building which is in precarious condition will be demolished soon and a Shopping Mall will be constructed besides shops for vendors, offices and Parking facilities. The shops existing in old Shastri Hall building will be shifted elsewhere before the old building is demolished.
