Dy CM lauds State development under CM Sawant despite pandemic

Margao: Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister, Chandrakant Kavalekar, expressed his enthusiasm towards making Goa an agriculture oriented State in the country, thereby fostering its economy to greater extent.

He was speaking after hoisting the National flag on the occasion of Republic Day at South Goa Collectorate, Margao on Tuesday. 

In his address, Kavlekar lauded the progress and development made by the State government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. He appreciated efforts and decision taken by the State Government to combat COVID-19 pandemic in Goa.

Kavlekar further mentioned that, the govt has initiated lots of Infrastructural projects and Welfare Schemes in the State providing people the best services in the sector of Road Transport, Communication, IT apart from social upliftment.

“Goa is on the way to becoming a developed State. We have 49 new enterprises coming up with a maritime cluster in Verna in a 14 thousand sq mts land, which will put us in a prime position. We have undertaken 10 road infrastructure projects and have the Zuari Bridge, which will be completed soon to become the world-class bridge,” he added.

Kavelkar further claimed that even as the state is reeling through a financial crisis due to mining closure and tourism slack the state is on its path of development, which is taking place quickly.

“There’s the Krushi Bhavan in Quepem, Canacona and the new infrastructure for Government offices is on the anvil,” he added.

 On the occasion Kavlekar paid tributes to freedom fighters of Goa and all over the country for their contribution towards freedom Struggle movement of the Nation. While also offering tribute to those luminaries who drafted the Constitution of India and gave people the right to be Citizens of a free and democratic country, such as Father of the Constitution Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Kavlekar pointed out that the participation of people in running the State and Nation is a sign of a good republic. 

Earlier, Kavlekar received the guard of honour by the troupe from Police and Fire and Emergency Services Department.

Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar; MLAs Churchil Alemao, Reginaldo Lourenco, Clafasio Dias; South Goa ZP Vice Chairman Khushali Velip; ZP member Ulhas Tuyekar, South Collector Ajit Roy; SP Pankaj Kumar Singh etc were present.
