MARGAO: Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai urged the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to have a clear political roadmap for all the allies (parties) and supporters to know. He was reacting to the midnight political changeover of two MGP MLAs into BJP.
Commenting on the entire episode, Sardesai said, “It seems that this would happen someday or the other. When the allies in a Government start fighting, they start eating into each other. To avoid this kind of situation I had offered several suggestions, speaking regarding the same situation for quite some time. I did predict this kind of situation earlier.”
“It has happened now. We have to remember one thing that some of us had come together and formed a government by supporting late chief minister Manohar Parrikar and his vision. It’s not even 12 days since his death. It is our duty to take his legacy forward, because several parties had come together and formed the government under the vision of Parrikar. Have you’ll forgotten that so soon?” asked Vijai.
“When MGP decided to contest Shiroda by-election it created a peculiar situation wherein even after having a party as its alliance partner was still in a tussle with the government, which obviously means that there won’t be any unity. Hence, my statement is that it was supposed to happen someday or the other,” Vijai said.
Vijai said, “Now Congressmen will breakaway. If this continues, how much public credibility will remain? And the answer to this has to be given by the major coalition partner.”
“I am sure that the chief minister will clarify on the future political road map of the government and I feel that he needs to do so, for the parties had stakeholders, supporters and the Goan public needs to know,” the Deputy CM added.
“The signals that we are sending to the people need to be clarified. BJP is an organisational party and the chief minister has to clarify,” he said.
When questioned on Goa Forward MLAs, he said, “Our MLAs would have gone long ago. Our MLAs have worked and got elected from the grassroot level when we started a new party as an experiment.”
Stating that they are ready for anything, he said, “It’s not that we need to be in ruling, we are ready to sit in the opposition too if need be. I am not worried about my MLAs but concerned that if we start taking steps by forgetting all political morals then we will be out of order and Goa will move backwards,” said Goa Forward chief Sardesai.
