PANJIM: Power Minister Nilesh Cabral revealed that the department has recovered Rs 275 crore of outstanding power payment dues from consumers via the one-time-settlement (OTS) scheme and other initiatives. He added the OTS scheme will be extended as well as a new scheme where only the principal amount from a certain type of consumers who have faced difficulty in clearing their dues.
He said stated that the department is working round-the-clock to address power outages issues that were caused after a large number of poles got damaged during the last few days during heavy rains.
He also clarified that the power department’s helpline number is working properly.
When asked about receiving compensation from the Centre for damage caused by the recent cyclone, he said the State government is following that up. He added that the majority of the funds will be used just for procuring materials to replace various types of equipment that was damaged then.
